Meet the team behind DocuMed AI.
DocuMed AI was born out of the real-world experiences of husband-and-wife physician duo, Dr. Furquan Waseem (neurologist) and Dr. Sana Kang (rheumatologist).
Dedicated physicians and parents to three daughters, Dr. Waseem and Dr. Kang found themselves in a constant struggle to balance their clinical duties, administrative tasks, and family responsibilities.

Dr. Waseem and Dr. Kang tried all the usual solutions in search of an answer (pre-built documentation templates, dictation, and human medical scribes), but all lacked the flexibility, reliability, and true time-savings they really needed.
Aware that many other physicians shared their struggles, the pair assembled a small team of developers to build a prototype AI medical scribe to automate key clinical documentation tasks.
Extensive testing and feedback was sought from other clinicians to improve the product before bringing it to market.

As international medical graduates (IMGs), Dr. Waseem and Dr. Kang are well aware of the additional stress and cognitive burden that physicians with English as a second language face when completing clinical documentation.
Both found that DocuMed AI virtually eliminated the pressure of triple-checking every note to ensure there are no grammatical errors or suboptimal word choices.
Now, thanks to DocuMed AI, IMGs can focus solely on ensuring the clinical accuracy of AI-transcribed notes, preserving their time and mental energy for higher-value activities.
The goal of DocuMed AI has always been to help physicians work smarter, not harder.

We know that when doctors thrive, everyone benefits. Therefore, our tools are hyper-focused on automating the menial tasks related to clinical practice, allowing physicians to devote more time and energy to the high-value work that makes a meaningful impact.
AI is a powerful tool, but it must be guided by principled human oversight, especially in medical settings. We develop responsibly, ensuring there is always a “physician in the loop.” This approach ensures that AI is used as a tool to enhance, not replace, human-led clinical care.
We believe in developing inclusive tools that enhance the practice and well-being of clinicians from all backgrounds. Our mission is to remove the barriers that make it more difficult for smaller providers and culturally diverse physicians to share their gifts with the world.
Healthcare is fundamentally about human connection and the healing process. To realize the full benefits of AI in medicine, we believe that technology should deliver more than efficiency—it must enhance human-human experiences and outcomes in all levels of care delivery.
